Turning Japanese?
The November issue of Junior Magazine includes a wonderful piece by Helen McKay-Ferguson on the “current trend for all things Eastern”. The article focuses particularly on the influence of Japanese aesthetic on current fashion collections and it features Aravore’s designer (and “self-confessed Japanophile”) Yanina Aubrey who for the AW11 collection “takes its cue from the kimono, with dresses adorned with wide obi-like sashes.”
In the article, Yanina explains that she’s attracted to the concept of wabi-sabi which “..entails an appreciation of subtlety, an austere refinement, a passion for craftsmanship of the highest level, but also an appreciation of the beauty of the imperfect from something that is handmade.”

On arrivals: Autumn is finally here & so is Aravore’s fantastic AW11 collection!
Autumn took a while to arrive to London this year, distracting us with so many warm and sunny days in September and October that we could have ever hoped for! Even now, as November makes its way in, the colouring outside our window is still that of the beginning of Autumn – not that we are complaining!
But the days are now certainly chillier and we have to say that we are excited, as we have such gorgeous AW collection to share with you this year!

The last of the summer shows: Aravore at Playtime Tokyo
Aravore SS12 at Playtime Tokyo
The end of August also saw the end to the Spring Summer trade shows. Our vintage trunks transporting hundreds of SS12 samples went from London to Paris and made a final stop at Playtime Tokyo a couple of weeks ago.
It has been a busy but exciting summer, where we were able to meet with many friends from all over the world. Feedback on our SS12 collection has been phenomenal and we will be sharing with you some of the initial reviews in due course. Aravore SS12 at Bubble London
We are just back from presenting our SS12 collection at Bubble London. This has to be one of our favorite shows… It is fantastic to see that season after season the quality and number of visitors keeps growing!
We had a packed two days and it was wonderful to see so many friends and to make many new ones. We were simply overwhelmed by the fantastic response to our new collection and we will be posting a few sneak pics in due course.

Happy Birthday Paraguay!
We were in Paraguay last week to work on our upcoming SS12 collection and were lucky enough that our visit coincided with the 200th celebration of Paraguay’s independence. The party athmosphere was contagious and we wanted to share it with you.
As you know, all Aravore products are made in Paraguay, a country with a rich textile crafting tradition.
All of us at Aravore would like to wish Paraguay a very happy 200th birthday! Feliz Bicentenario!
